Hogs Breath Cafe and Hobie® Cat Australia are proud to announce the Australian Hobie Cat Nationals return to Queensland this year, with the venue being the Spectacular Hervey Bay, on the Fraser Coast.
Sailing from Hervey Bay Sailing Club, we will be treated to open water and summer sea breezes. The Fraser Coast is a tourist hot spot, with Fraser Island, Rainbow Beach, dolphin and whale watching too.
With the support of our amazing sponsors, Hogs Breath Cafe and Hobie Cat Australasia this is a regatta not to be missed.
With the 2016 Hobie National Championships at Hervey Bay approaching quickly, now is the time to book your accommodation if you have not done so already. Hervey Bay is a very popular beach and tourist destination and although there is loads of accommodation available it will likely book out before December. Properties in the immediate vicinity of the Hervey Bay Sailing Club at Torquay are already close to capacity. The location of the Championships this year was selected not only as it is a brilliant sailing venue straight off the beach, but it is also a great holiday destination for the whole family. Book your accommodation now and the rest of the Hobie community will see you there!
The 2016 Nationals sees the return of the multi series format, last seen at the 2009 Mandurah WA Nationals. This is a great thing to see and shows growth in several classes.
With the two series format, there will be increased numbers in the H16 open fleet, as a number of H14, Tiger and Wildcat sailors are planning on having a stab at the 16’s too!
