The Cut Party marks a key milestone at the Hobie 16 European Championships in Ustka, Poland.

After two intense racing days of qualifying races, the atmosphere reached a new high with the much-anticipated Cut Party. Sailors, supporters, coaches and organisers gathered to celebrate the successful qualification round, where 15 teams earned their spots in the prestigious Gold Fleet, joining the 34 pre-qualified teams.

The evening was more than just a celebration of competition. This year’s Cut Party carried special significance as the Hobie community also honoured the 75th anniversary of the Hobie brand with a big birthday cake, a milestone that highlights decades of fun, adventure, and camaraderie on and off the water.

With the fleet now splitting into Gold and Silver, the championship enters its next phase: four days of high-stakes racing where Europe’s as well as oversea’s best Hobie 16 sailors will battle it out for this year’s title.

The energy is high, the teams are focused, and the spirit of Hobie sailing is stronger than ever in Ustka.

After four exciting days of competition on the Polish Baltic coast, the Hobie 16 European Championship in Ustka concluded with a festive prize giving ceremony—despite the final day being cut short due to severe weather.

The final day began with high hopes for one last race that could have changed the overall standings. An additional discard was on the table, and teams were ready for a final battle. Although dark clouds loomed, the conditions were still sailable, and anticipation was high.

However, just before the first warning signal, the race committee had to make the difficult but necessary decision to cancel racing. Thunderstorms, waterspouts, and unstable weather systems moved in rapidly, forcing all teams back to shore for safety reasons.

Once the storm passed, the wind dropped completely. Despite long hours of waiting and watching the skies, no further races could be held. The day—and the championship—came to a close with the results from the previous day standing unchanged.
